Dear CTGU International Students:
An essay contest on the topic of “Me and China” will be hosted by College of International Communications from March 5 to March 31. Here are the details of the contest:
1. Background information and motivation
Recently during the fight against COVID-19, all international students, together with the Chinese people, have gone through an unforgettable period and left a lifelong piece of memory. For some this is an unprecedented experience while for others it might ring a bell and recall their old memories. Therefore, we offer this unique opportunity to all international students to capture their feelings, highlight their stories, and retrieve the beauty of humanity which transcends the definition of nationality. The significance of the essay contest is two-folded as it is about you yourself as an individual and our era as a community.
2.Requirements and instructions
The essay should be original works by the author.
The essay should be based on experiences during the epidemic, exploring and manifesting the love of “Me and China” and the people and events that deserve respect, love and gratitude.
The essay can be written in both Chinese and English.
If you have original pictures (in JEPG format) to come with the article, please attach them with the captions in the email.
3. Submission of works
This contest is open for submission from March 5 to March 31, 2020.
All works should be submitted to workingicelyhu@163.com. Please fill in the SUBJECT of the email in the following format: name-student No.-phone No. e.g. Jim-2019111001-15571708888.
4. Evaluation and publicity
The essay will be screened and evaluated by teachers from College of International Communications.
The outstanding works will be given extra scores in the course “Chinese Culture and Society”.
The outstanding works will be published in CTGU International and recommended to official or foreign media.
The published works will be candidates of prize winners with awards of prize money and certificates.
5. Awards of the Contest
The contest offers four awards: the first prize, the second prize, the third prize and the outstanding award. All awards consist of prize money and certificates of honor.
First prize: 300RMB
Second prize: 200RMB
Third prize: 100RMB
Outstanding Award: 50RMB
